Mission Statement
The mission of Heartland Community Church is
to lead people into a deeper relationship with
 Jesus Christ through vibrant worship and
a caring community where they
find purpose in life and power to serve.

What We Believe
We believe in the triune God, who has revealed himself as one God in three Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  We believe that all people are sinners and can not have fellowship with God apart from what Jesus has done.  We believe that God, in love, sent Jesus, His only Son, into the world to die on the cross for our sins.  This Jesus rose from the dead and is now in heaven with God.   He will return visibly on the last day to judge all people.  We believe that God will accept all who repent of their sins and believe that the finished work of Jesus Christ is the only basis of salvation.  We believe that God wants us to love and care for one another.  We believe that God wants us to be disciples and disciple makers.

Our History
First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Falls called Pastor Jim Hoogeveen to begin a new church in Sioux Falls.  Pastor Jim moved to Sioux Falls in August of 1995 and began the work of gathering a core group of people who would help start this new church.  The focus of the church is to reach out to people who do not have a church home and those who are moving into this community.  Heartland held its first public worship service on September 6, 1996.  Heartland met at Calvin Christian School for 7 years and then used the worship center at Sioux Falls Seminary for 4 1/2 years.  We purchased our current facility at 3800 East 15th Street from Community Reformed Church and began worshipping here on Easter of 2008. We continue to experience God's blessing as we go about the wonderful task of caring for people and helping them know and love God. Pastor Jim and Lois enjoyed a sabbatical the summer of 2010 with funds provided by the Lilly Foundation. Garry Nyenhuis, a student at Sioux Falls Seminary, filled in while Pastor Jim was on his sabbatical.

Our Logo
We carefully chose our logo to represent our task as a church.  Heartland Community Church is a group of people committed to sharing God's love with everyone.  The heart in the logo represents the brokenness in our world.  We all experience pain and distress in life.  The cross represents the solution that Jesus Christ offers for healing our brokenness.  At Heartland we help provide love and healing for the brokenness people experience in life.
