Key Verses
Colossians 4:2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Romans 15:2 Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. Colossians 2:2 My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ. Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Acts 5:42 Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.
Our History First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Falls called Pastor Jim Hoogeveen to begin a new church in Sioux Falls. Pastor Jim moved to Sioux Falls in August of 1995 and began the work of gathering a core group of people who would help start this new church. The focus of the church is to reach out to people who do not have a church home and those who are moving into this community. Heartland held its first public worship service on September 6, 1996. Heartland met at Calvin Christian School for 7 years and then used the worship center at Sioux Falls Seminary for 4 1/2 years. We purchased our current facility at 3800 East 15th Street from Community Reformed Church and began worshipping here on Easter of 2008. We continue to experience God's blessing as we go about the wonderful task of caring for people and helping them know and love God. Pastor Jim and Lois enjoyed a sabbatical the summer of 2010 with funds provided by the Lilly Foundation. Garry Nyenhuis, a student at Sioux Falls Seminary, filled in while Pastor Jim was on his sabbatical.
